The Griffin AirCurve Play is the newest speaker from Griffin that comes for iPhone 4. It’s the improved version of Griffin Aircurve that was made originally for iPhone 3G/3GS. What’s so special about it? Well, its innovative and new technology increases the sound with 10dB. For most people this will be just a number, and might not seem that great. But what 10dB means is that the sound produced will be twice as loud than the one your iPhone is producing; and all of that without any need of extra batteries, electronics or cables. We don’t know the whole story about the clever engineering technology behind it. However we know that this acoustic amplifier collects the sound from your iPhone and then amplifies it using a built-in coiled waveguide and then projects it into the room. (If your into more technical details or want to know how to compare two speakers have a look at How loud will it be?.)
Unlike its predecessor, the Aircurve 2 sits upright via a stand at the back. This allows a great flexibility, depending on what you prefer, you can keep it in landscape or portrait mode, still allowing space for you to insert your own dock connector. So whatever you want to do, it will stay in a safely in the dock, allowing you to charge, synchronize, enjoy movies, music, internet at twice the usual sound. And all of that with no other extra battery needed.
Here is the resume of its features as provided by Griffin:
- Acoustically amplifies the speaker of your iPhone without batteries, cables or electricity; internal engineered waveguide requires no power
- The perfect solution for audio and video conferencing with iPhone 4
- Listen to audio from videos, games, and music without headphones
- Holds your iPhone in both landscape and portrait mode
- Insert your own dock cable to use as a charge/sync dock
